Mary Oschwald

Mary is a Research Associate Professor and Director of The Regional Research Institute for Human Services in the School of Social Work, Portland State University. She has been working with community partners and adults with diverse disabilities for the past 15 years to increase the awareness of interpersonal violence against people with disabilities. Along with women and men with disabilities, community members, and others, she was a part of the group that developed the two internet-based abuse awareness programs used in Our Lives. These on-line programs are entitled:

The Women’s Safer and Stronger Program
The Men’s Safer and Stronger Program

These internet-based, abuse-awareness programs provide women and men with disabilities tools to self-assess risk and abuse in their lives and to increase their awareness of available safe-promoting options.
