Brenda works with the disabled and elderly communities located within the Inland Empire and Greater Los Angeles Area. She also provides the Spanish speaking community with translation and interpreter services when needed. She assists consumers in learning how to fulfill their goals and achieve a more independent life living as a person with a disability. She does so by providing advocacy and peer support, as well as independent living training and information and referrals to services and low-income resources. She frequently updates SCIL’s housing referrals information in an attempt to provide consumers with the most accurate affordable housing listings available. She is one of the facilitators for SCIL’s Youth Leadership Summit, which is a program that works with students 16-25 years old in transitioning out of high school into adulthood by exploring their educational and employment options, as well as teaching them how to be more independent. She is also one of the facilitators for the Living Well with a Disability program, which is a continuous 10-week program that helps consumers learn how to lead better lifestyles through healthy eating, goal setting, problem solving, and preparing consumers on transitioning out of hospitals and institutions into the community.
